Meeting on Terceira Island for the partners of the European project RELIEF – euRopean bio-Economy aLliancE in Farming – aimed at revolutionizing the teaching of bioeconomics in agriculture by developing two innovative study programs for students, professionals in the agricultural sector, and farmers.

Agriculture is essential for local development in many countries of the European Union, yet it struggles to reach its full potential due to a lack of resources, inadequate training for workers, and growing environmental issues. Bioeconomics, defined as an economy based on the sustainable use of renewable natural resources and their transformation into final or intermediate goods and services (European Commission), is the solution to these problems.

The project aims to conduct an analysis of training needs and promote bioeconomics through vocational training courses, agricultural consultancy, and collaborations between research institutions and social partners in Italy, Greece, Sweden, Cyprus, and Portugal.

Project objectives include promoting sustainability in agricultural businesses, fostering continuous learning, creating networks to support long-term sustainability, and adopting new training methods based on transformative learning.
